Environment, health and safety training is essential for supply chains across the region. It is helping to build sustainable manufacturing capacity at a technical level, by working with factories, identifying barriers to success, and developing appropriate training programs. The India EHS+ Center has been created to help managers and professionals in companies and their supply chain factories in Pune and the surrounding area get the skills and training they need to improve performance, reduce pollution, and develop strong practices in factory management.
The rapid growth of Indian industry presents a critical opportunity to pursue growth which is inclusive, environmentally friendly and leads to overall sustainable development. To achieve such growth, organizations need to integrate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices into their business operations. Small and medium enterprises need affordable and industry-relevant EHS training and technical assistance. The EHS+ Center trainings will initially focus on the automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and textile industries. The Institute for Sustainable Communities has developed the EHS+ Center in partnership with the Symbiosis Institute for International Business and with funding support from the GE Foundation and The Walt Disney Company.
